This week brought the honor of speaking directly to two groups whose contributions often go unnoticed our food service professionals and custodial staff.

The message at the heart of it all was simple: You Matter. These individuals ensure every student steps into a clean, welcoming building and enjoys a nourishing meal. Long before a lesson begins, they've already shaped the tone of the day and everything that follows depends on the foundation they build.

For every leader reading this: when was the last time you paused to tell someone their work truly matters? Not through an email. Not buried in a newsletter. In person, face to face. That's where real leadership begins in the moments people feel genuinely valued.
